Countertops: Page Three to Page One
On this page
A rebuilt website and a cleaned-up Google Business Profile moved a countertop company from page three to page one. Neither alone would have done it — the site couldn't rank because of how it was built, and the listing was working against the site with inconsistent information.
But a ranking isn't the result. The result is what the ranking produced.
The situation

What we found
Two problems that compounded each other: a site that couldn't rank because of how it was built, and a Google Business Profile carrying information that didn't match it.
Why both mattered together: the profile drives map pack visibility while the site carries organic. Inconsistent information across the two undermines both, and fixing one while leaving the other produces a smaller result than the work deserved.
What we did
The listing work came first deliberately. It's free, it takes an afternoon, and it produces movement while a rebuild is still in development — so the client sees something happening during the slowest part.
Why a rebuild was actually justified here
We tell most businesses they don't need a new website, so this needs explaining rather than glossing.
- The site couldn't be edited without a developer, so content could never be added
- It was technically broken in ways that resisted patching
- It wasn't usable on a phone
- The structure couldn't support the pages the strategy needed
Those four together are the bar. Miss them and a rebuild is usually the expensive way to avoid doing the listing work — and attributing a result to a redesign when the listing cleanup did the work is the comfortable version, not the accurate one.

A ranking is a means, not a result. A page-one position that didn't change the phone is a fact, and a reader who has been sold rankings before will be looking for exactly that gap. What we can show here is the position change. Lead volume wasn't baselined before the work started, which is the honest limit of this one — and the reason the section below exists.
What we'd do differently
Set up measurement before the work, not after. The most common regret on projects like this is discovering afterwards that nobody recorded what the phone was doing beforehand.
Is your situation similar?
This fits a business whose site genuinely can't be worked with and whose listing has never been properly set up — a fairly common pair, because both usually date from the same neglected period.
It's the wrong reference if your site is merely dated. Check the five cheaper fixes first — most businesses asking for a rebuild have a visibility problem a rebuild won't solve, and a new site with the same content ranks about the same.
